About Bedford Community Orchestra:

The Bedford Community Orchestra, located in Bedford, Virginia, was founded in 1989. The orchestra, under the direction of Scott Walter, provides a Spring and Fall Concert Season. The BCO traditionally hosts two free concerts a year at the Bedford Middle School Auditorium in Bedford, and is also available for other performances throughout the year.

Rehearsals are held weekly, and include musicians from Bedford, Lynchburg, Roanoke, Blacksburg, and the surrounding areas, joining together to share in the joy and creation of orchestral music.

The Bedford Community Orchestra was founded in 1989, by Joseph and Lucy Still. Joe was the BCO’s conductor for 10 years, with Lucy at his side as concertmaster. Joe retired from conducting at the young age of 92.

The Elk’s National Home in Bedford hosted the BCO for many years, providing a welcome home for rehearsals and concerts. The BCO serves Bedford City, Bedford County and surrounding areas.

The repertoire consists of orchestral scores representing the baroque, classical, impressionistic and romantic periods, as well as contemporary work, film scores, jazz and pop arrangements.
